PROFESSOR

김주연 교수는 미국 NYSID에서 실내건축 석사학위와 연세대학교 주거환경학과에서 박사학위를 받고, Steven-Kratchman Architect(NY), Yves-Claude Design(NY), 그리고 삼성전자에서 인턴의 디자이너 실무활동을 하였다. 인월디자인 대표로 스튜디오를 운영하며 초등학교 교육공간을 위한 프로젝트에서 문화체육관광부의 장관표창과 함께 다수의 주거, 상업, 그리고 교육공간프로젝트에서 디자인기획과 설계를 진행하였다. 2011년 숭실대학교 건축학부에 부임하고  미국 University of Georgia에서 방문연구자로도 재직하였다. 연구와 디자이너 실무경험을 토대로 주요 연구 관심은 신경건축의 연구방법으로 뇌파, 시선추적, 그리고 행동관찰에 대한 사용자의 감각인지 및 선호도 심리정보에 대한 융합데이터 추출로 공간디자인 설계가이드라인을 구축하는 것이다. 최근에는 증강현실과 가상현실을 접목한 공간디자인 설계에서 학습자의 인지심리에 대한 탐색으로 확장하여 연구 활동을 하고 있다.

Kim received her Ph.D. in Housing and Interior Design from Yonsei University after earning an MFA from New York School of Interior Design. Her main research interest is to understand human behavior by extracting the user's visual perception and preference information from the environment.

She was awarded the 2011 Design and Planning Award from the Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism with a project focused on the elementary school design. Prior to joining the faculty of Soongsil University, Kim directed In-Between Wall Design Lab from 2004 to 2010. She also worked at Steven-Kratchman Architect(NY), Yves-Claude Design(NY), and Samsung Electronics.
